In celebration of Monroe Free Library’s Year of the Arts, the library is seeking entries for a Short Film Competition. Participants will submit an original short film with a run time between three(3) and ten(10) minutes. Entries will be accepted between August 15th and August 19th. Submissions will be judged in three age groups:

               Up to 10 Years Old           11 - 17               Adults

The theme for this Short Film Competition is Judging a Book by Its Cover.  “Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover” is a metaphorical phrase that means one should not judge the worth or value of something by its outward appearance alone. Entries that adapt the theme creatively will be best positioned to win.

Winners in each category will receive a pair of movie tickets to the Monroe Flagship Cinema.

The subject matter and content of the short films must be appropriate for an all-ages educational setting.

Winners and honorable mentions will be screened at the library at a later event and, with the film-makers’s permission, shared on the library’s website and social media channels with full credit to the author.

Submission guidelines: Upload your entry to your video hosting platform of choice and then email a link to shorts@monroefreelibrary.org. A staff member will confirm that your entry has been submitted.
