Rosetta Stone is Free with your Library Card
Yes, you read that right. Rosetta Stone—the gold standard in
language learning software—is now available to all Monroe Free Library
cardholders at no extra cost. You can access this award-winning language
solution from your home computer, tablet, and even your smart phone. Learn a
language on your lunch break, or practice pronunciation in the park.
Rosetta Stone uses an immersion technique which does not
rely on your native language. You learn your new language the same way small
children do—by associating these news words with the concepts they represent in
a natural way. The software even analyzes your voice as you speak, comparing
the waveforms to those of a native speaker, and gently nudges you toward
correct pronunciation and cadence.
Using Rosetta Stone on a Computer <<RECOMMENDED>>
Click the link at the top of this page, or return to our
homepage and click the Rosetta Stone button. On the next page, enter your
library card number, which is located on the back of your card. This will take
you to the Rosetta Stone landing page, where you will click the “Launch Rosetta
Stone” option to get started.
On the next screen you will enter your email address, choose
a password, and choose which language you wish to learn. Please remember this
information, as it is how the program keeps track of your progress.
Using Rosetta Stone on a Tablet or Phone
Okay, this is a bit trickier—but if you set it up right, it works. First, download the Rosetta Stone app from the App Store or from Google Play. However, don’t open the app when it is finished installing. This is important. In fact, you will never open the App on your own--so you can hide it away in a folder on iOS or off of your home screen on Android.
Instead, navigate to www.monroefreelibrary.org and click the Rosetta Stone button on the main page.
Bookmark that page! This is how you will log into the software every time. Click one of the following links for instructions if you need help:
